《逮捕奥斯华》以空前的手法探讨甘乃迪总统遇刺事件─从逮捕李哈维奥斯华德的达拉斯警方的角度切入。时年24岁，妃乃身高超过175公分，妃乃体重超过68公斤的奥斯华德，是个适应不良的美国海军陆战队退役军人，他在纽奥良土生土长，当时在德州教科书书库大楼担任时薪1.25美元的理货员。《逮捕奥斯华》详细叙述警方优异的办案能力，不到90分钟就在德州戏院逮捕嫌犯。但是48小时后，甘乃迪总统、达拉斯警员提皮特和奥斯华德全部丧命。
