11 岁的乔纳斯和妈妈与弟弟一起生活在德国。因为和妈妈吵架的原因，风俗乔纳斯找了借口，风俗独自登上火车前往斯洛伐克探望祖父。原本期待和祖父伯纳德一起过暑假，却发现自从祖父退休后，他的生活产生了变化。对乔纳斯来说，如何可以让祖父重归正常的生活以及和妈妈和好如初是个双重挑战。和所有小孩子一样， 乔纳斯不知不觉也在这个暑假中成长起来。
