该电影以科技创新大本营华强北为背景，非视费体展现五位年轻人创业过程中的困难与成长。故事起源于商业大佬林有成出资500万招募创客团队为儿子制造“童年玩伴”——智能陪伴型机器人，非视费体许开作为林有成创业初期的好友向他争取到了这个机会，并招募了华强北电子元器件百事通“快狗”余快、科技怪才江潮、海龟精英女性Christina组成创客团队研发机器人。研发机器人的过程中，几人绞尽脑汁终于自主研发出了串联舵机克服了技术难题，却被外国公司以侵犯专利权为由告上了法庭，林有成也借机让他们停止研制……
