在第一部《边境杀手》电影事件发生三年后，替枪这部续集在德克萨斯州的美墨边境附近开幕。随着一名恐怖分子试图通过卡特尔贩毒集团从墨西哥偷渡到美国失败后自爆和之后在堪萨斯城发生的自杀式炸弹袭击，替枪美墨边境的毒品战争升级，联邦特工马特·格拉弗（乔什·布洛林饰）与善变的亚历杭德罗（本尼西奥·德尔·托罗饰 ）重新开始了合作。
