环卫公司垃圾车驾驶员尼卡德（Matti Pellonpää 饰）的老同事计划筹资组建自己的环卫公司，青山邀请尼卡德技术入股，青山但老同事不久急病突发身亡，尼卡德的生活重回一潭死水状态。尼卡德心有不甘借酒滋事，在被拘留的时候结识日后的同事米卡拉。米卡拉偶而会不识趣的妨碍尼卡德暗地追求超市售货员伊罗娜（Kati Outinen 饰），但他仍是尼卡德最可依赖的朋友。伊罗娜为报复超市经理偷走了钱盒，尼卡德帮助她找到服装店的新工作，服装店经理夹到尼卡德与伊罗娜的关系中间，但尼卡德最终夺回了自己的爱人。本片获1987年芬兰电影尤西奖最佳影片奖。是导演郭立斯马基（Aki Kaurismäki）无产阶级三部曲的第一部。

Clamen <clamen@cs.cmu.edu>In 1865, during the siege of Richmond, Virginia, the union soldiers POW Captain Harding, Neb and Herbert escape in a balloon during a storm with two confederate prisoners, Sergeant Pencroft and the journalist Spilett. The uncontrollable wind takes the balloon to a mysterious island in the South Pacific in the area of New Zealand. Captain Harding self-proclaims the leader of the group and they look for food; sooner they discover that they are stranded in an island. Further, they are attacked by a giant crab that becomes their first meal. Along the days, they build a shelter and finds that the island is inhabited by giant animals. A couple of days later, they find two castaways on the beach, the aristocratic Lady Mary Fairchild and her sexy niece Elena. Later they find a trunk with weapons and instruments like sextant and shelter with a journal of a man left alone in the island by pirates. When the pirate vessel arrives in the island, they are helped by Captain Nemo of the Nautilus, a submarine that had supposedly sunk in the coast of Mexico eight years ago. 回复 :导演其实在开篇的旁白里就已经说出了故事的结局，电影是一出悲剧。但却是以喜剧的形式讲述的。三名孤儿，安德列、尤里克与玛尔塔。其实都是成年人，但他们的行为却如孩子般天真。三人住在一所战争中被炸毁的教堂里。有趣的是，这所教堂竟然还有个房东，他也是个孤儿。胖胖的，可爱的老头， 贪吃、爱玩，喜欢弹钢琴。安德列与尤里克本是好友，但自从犹太女孩玛尔塔到来之后，他们的关系变得异常微妙。尤里克无缘由地被抓进监狱。一年出狱后，发现已经是物是人非。他们的将来会何去何从呢？片中的鸟儿，是指人死后灵魂的象征物；愚人，也可以说是“傻瓜”，是指那些在战争中失去理智的疯子或者被别人称为是有理性的那些人。剧中经常出现不合常理、超现实的人物、场景。
