本节目由五洲传播中心联合美国国家地理频道、卡2卡英国Wild Blue Media共同制作，卡2卡旨在展示中国悠久的历史和璀璨的文明。节目共3集，每集45分钟，由美国考古学家艾伦·马卡担任主持人。节目中，他带领其技术团队，探访中国各地历史遗迹，并与当地专家密切合作，借助卫星遥感成像、数字摄影测量、三维动画等当代先进技术，讲述了长城的起源发展，回顾了元上都的往日繁荣，探寻了石峁、喇家、金沙、三星堆和良渚等失落的古城。节目以解密方式层层推进，对外展示了中国最新的考古发现，深入解读了中国悠久绵延的历史和博大精深的文化。
