这是一部建设社会主义新农村的故事。主人公王青山（刘均饰），死亡农业大学硕士、死亡省农业厅科长。为了改变家乡石头屿的贫困与落后面貌，实现家乡的可持续发展，王青山毅然辞去已任职两年的省农业厅科长职务，与导师的女儿——女朋友杨倩一同回到了家乡，用所学的知识带领家乡人民致富。[
