丁安安（白允然）與雍晴（林姍姍）兩個表姐妹自小就讀於同一所女校，精品因二人的母親（韓瑪利、精品蘇杏璇）一向口和心不和，從小就向自己女兒灌輸好勝思想，因此形成安安與晴從小鬥到大，三日一小吵，五日一大鬥。她們在校中認識了男同學米高（張衛健）及保羅（陳俊國），很快成為情侶，兩對小冤家後來因鬥氣竟然互調了男朋友……本人八卦:本片是张卫健的荧屏处女作，而他的荧屏初吻自然也献给林姗姗。林姗姗在当时小有名气，和陈百强的合唱曲目也是本片的插曲《再见Puppy Love 》是她的代表作品，同时她还有主持和电影差不多同名的节目《三个小神仙》。据说她还是发现郑伊健的经理人……

The pretext of the film, set in Cologne, is Heinrich Böll’s novel “Billiards at Half Past Nine,” which they strip down to a handful of stark events and film with a confrontational angularity akin to Bartók’s music that adorns the soundtrack. The subtlest of cues accompany the story’s complex flashbacks. The middle-aged Robert Fähmel tells a young hotel bellhop of persecutions under the Third Reich; his elderly father, Heinrich, an architect famed for a local abbey, recalls the militarism of the First World War, when his wife, Johanna, incurred trouble for insulting the Kaiser. A third-generation Fähmel is considering architecture, just as the exiled brother of Robert’s late wife, returns, only to be met by their former torturer, now a West German official taking part in a celebratory parade of war veterans. Straub and Huillet make the layers of history live in the present tense, which they judge severely. The tamped-down acting and the spare, tense visual rhetoric suggest a state of moral crisis as well as the response—as much in style as in substance—that it demands.
